flush, full house, 4 of a kind, and straight flush.
The strongest poker hand is a straight flush which is 5 cards consecutively ordered like 5-6-7-8-9 and all the same suit
Next best is 4 of a kind like KKKK
Next is a full house like KKK-99 three cards of one rank + a pair
Next best hand is a flush which is 5 cards all the same suit
Next best is the straight which is 5 cards of different suit consecutively ordered like 7-8-9-10-J or A-2-3-4-5 is also a straight.
below that is a 3 of a kind which is 3 cards same rank. Also called a set or trips.
Next we have 2 pair
and finally a pair
if no one has a made hand, the player with the highest single card wins.
To break a tie, the player with the higher ranked cards wins. In the case of a full house the player with the higher 3 cards is ahead. ex AAA-KK is better than KKK-AA
In the case of a straight A-2-3-4-5 is the lowest and 10-J-Q-K-A Is the highest
Poker hands are ranked according to the probability of catching the hand. Rare combinations like straight flush, quads (4 of a kind) and a full house are all ranked high since they are rare. Lower ranked combinations like a simple pair are ranked low because they are frequent and common.
